RPP-RJP unification process starts today; Thapa to head the party

KATHMANDU: The unification between the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) is taking place today.

Some 2,300 delegates across the country have arrived in Kathmandu to attend the unity conference of two parties taking place in Bhrikutimandap.

A consensus was forged to constitute an integrated party under the leadership of Surya Bahadur Thapa in the three-day conference and the jamboree will decide other posts in the party working committee.

The conference will make a 107-member central committee including three vice-chairpersons, three general secretaries, spokesperson, deputy spokesperson and five assistant general secretaries.

The taskforce formed to make groundwork to that end comprises four leaders including Thapa, Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani.
