For UML leaders, Madan Bhandari Memorial Day is good time to criticize Maoists



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML and its sister organizations are marking the 20th Madan Bhandari and Jibraj Ashrti Memorial Day across the country by organizing different programs.

In Kathmandu, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, party senior leader K P Oli, Bhandari’s widow Bidhya Devi and UML well wishers attended the program.

Addressing the program organized at UML headquarters, Khanal said Bhandari’s contribution to Nepal’s communist movement was immense.

Other leaders while addressing the program spent their time in criticizing the Maoists.

He said the people’s multiparty democracy, a political doctrine propounded by late Bhandari, would only liberate the people.
Likewise, CPN-UML Chitwan District Committee observed the day at Dasdhung on the bank of Narayani River where Bhandari was killed.

Speaking on the occasion, UML leader Madhav Nepal said the murderers of late Bhandari’s driver Amar Lama was somewhere in the UCPN (Maoist).

Leader Nepal spent most of his time in lambasting the Maoists.

The then general secretary of CPN (UML) Bhandari and organization department chief Jibraj Ashrit had died mysteriously in a jeep accident while the leaders were heading for Chitwan from Pokhara.
