2 dead; over 3 dozens missing in Saptakoshi boat capsize incident

SUNSARI: At least two persons died and nearly three dozens are missing when a boat capsized in Chatara Canal of Saptakoshi River in Sunsari district today. The overcrowded boat was heading to Thoksila of Updayapur from Barahchhetra VDC of Sunsari district at around 2:30 this afternoon.

The dead bodies of two women have been recovered. However, identity of the deceased is not confirmed yet. Locals have assumed that over three dozens people are still missing in the canal.

Nearly 15 persons have been rescued so far. Efforts are underway to rush the rescued persons to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Science in Dharan.

Army persons, police and locals are working to rescue the missing persons.
