UML CC meeting ends without deciding on Politburo Criteria

Kathmandu, August 16. The central committee meeting of CPN-UML ended today without deciding on criteria for politburo membership.

The CC meeting failed to form politburo and standing committees of the party. A press statement issued by General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel after the meeting states that top leaders will hold further discussions on the disputed Article 38 of party statute. It has said that the meeting has ended without entering in the main agendas which the party has already decided.

The Article mentions criteria for politburo membership, but two camps led by Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal interpreted the provision different.
