Nepal defeat Maldives with 7 wickets



Kathmandu, September 28. The ongoing ASIAD game, in Inchon, Korea Nepal progressed to the quarterfinals of the 17th Asian Games cricket after defeating Maldives by seven wickets .

In another day dominated by Nepal i bowlers, Nepal chased the 54-run target in 14.2 overs losing three wickets.

For Nepal’s winning Bhuwan Karki, Shakti Gauchan and Sagar Pun claimed two wickets each after Maldives won the toss and chose to bat at Yeonhui Cricket Ground, Incheon.

Shafraz Jaleel was Maldives top scorer with 12 runs. Five Maldives batsmen returned to the pavilion without opening their account.

Nepal lost the wickets of Sagar Pun, Gyanendra Malla, both with one run each, and skipper Paras Khadka (15) before reaching the target. Subash Khakurel was Nepal ‘s top scorer with 27 runs in the low-scoring game.

Nepal will play against Afghanistan in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
