Student organisations demand reduction of petroleum products price



Kathmandu, December 17: Eleven Student-organizations  parties have demanded a reduction in prices of petroleum products.

According to the Nepal Student Union Spokeperson UP Lamichhane the  meeting of the student’s unions, affiliated to ruling-coalition and opposition parties, held on Wednesday, has decided that they will exert pressure to reduce prices of petroleum products according to international market prices.

After the meeting, the students submitted a memorandum to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) stating that although petroleum prices have reduced by 45 per cent in the international market, it is objectionable that the prices have not reduced in Nepal; and that the price must be adjusted accordingly soon.

Likewise, eleven student-unions including Nepal Students Union, All Nepal National Free Students Union and All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary) have also decided against writing on walls and sticking posters at educational institutions and other public places.

They have also made a decision to clean the area of educational institutions they are affiliated to every first Friday of the month.

Similarly, the meeting has decided to submit a memorandum to university officials to conduct free students union’s election as soon as possible.
