RPP-N to boycott Proposal Drafting Committee

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) on Sunday decided to boycott the Proposal Drafting Committee accusing the Nepali Congress and the UML of refusing to prepare questions on republic, secularism and federalism.

RPP-N Chief Whip Dilnath Giri said that the party decided to boycott the committee as the ruling parties refused to prepare questions while preparing questionnaire on the disputed issues of the new constitution. According to Giri, the party will not attend any meeting of the committee hereafter. Opposition parties including the UCPN (Maoist) too have been boycotting the committee’s meeting. A meeting of the Proposal Drafting Committee is starting in few minutes.

The first meeting of the committee on Saturday had formed a seven-member sub-committee under the coordination of NC leader Ramesh Lekhak.
