Govt distributes 2,600 tarpaulin



Kathmandu, May 1: The government has so far distributed 2,600 tarpaulin sheets in a bid to support the victims of quake, especially those living under the tent in the open space.

According to the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), the government has beenoperating some 16 temporary camps in various places following the 7.8-magnitude quake on April 25 and the recurring aftershocks.

Padya Kumar Mainali of MoUD shared that the Urban Development Ministry has mobilized a team to carry out a preliminary assessment of the damage caused by the quake to the government offices.

Similarly, a task force involving various professional groups has been formed in coordination of Nepal Engineering Association to study the damage to physical infrastructures of the private offices.

Likewise, a sizeable number of UN volunteers with technical expertise are to be mobilized to assess the damage of the quake to physical infrastructure, according to MoUD. RSS
