Blood Sufficient Now: Red Cross



Kathmandu, May 2: More than 2,000 pints of blood is in stock at the Central Blood Transfusion Centre for the treatment of those injured in earthquake occurred last Saturday, according to Nepal Red Cross Society.

Public Relation Officer of the Red Cross Society, Divya Poudel, said that volunteers have been donating blood in view of possible crisis. Similarly, many volunteers are ready for blood donation if needed, he added.

The Red Cross Society has so far provided first aid to more than 20,000 injured people in the quake hit areas, and provided 20,000 tents, 10,000 blankets and food stuffs.

Assistance from 20 countries’ Red Cross has been received. The quake has affected 900 VDCs and 58 municipalities of 50 districts, according to a preliminary report.

Over 5,000 volunteers plus the staffs from the Red Cross have been mobilized in the quake-hit areas. RSS
