Three-party talks team and UDMF talks team hold discussion



Kathmandu, Oct 6: Formal talks have taken place between the three major political parties and the talks team of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) for the first time today.

The leaders participating in the meeting held at Singha Durbar said that the discussion was focused on effectively implementing the decision made by the government to create environment conducive for the talks.

Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation, also the member of the talks team of three major political parties, Mahesh Acharya, said that both the sides put their views openly in the meeting.

The talks team of the UDMF complained over not effectively implementing the previsions and the decisions made by the government to create an environment conducive for talks.

Minister Acharya said that an understanding has been reached to sit for talks tomorrow, adding that they urged the UDMF talks team to help resolve the border blockade problem.

During the meeting, it was discussed that some of the political demands could be met, Chairman of the Sadbhawana Party, Laxman Lal Karna, said. He added that the UDMF team demanded for effective implementation of the previous decision made to create environment conducive for talks as well as implementing the remaining decisions soon to settle the Madhes problem.
