NC president extends condolences over journalist Chhetri’s death

Kathmandu, April 29: Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed condolences over the demise of Nepal Press Union central secretary Surya Kumar Chhetri.

Chhetri passed away on Thursday in course of treatment for brain tumour. Deuba reached Nepal Academy today and paid his last respects to Chhetri by covering Chhetri’s body with the party flag.

Likewise, Speaker Onsari Gharti reached the Academy and paid tribute to Chhetri.

Deputy Prime Minister Chitra Bahadur KC, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai, Industry Minister Som Prasad Pandey, and Nepali Congress leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Gopalman Shrestha, Dr Minendra Rijal, Gagan Thapa, Pradip Poudel, Gururaj Ghimire, NP Saud, Chandra Bhandari, among others also paid homage to the late Chhetri.

Chhetri’s last rites will be performed in his home district Syangja today itself, according to family sources. RSS
