Health services in Govt. policies and programmes



Kathmandu, May 8: President Bidya Devi Bhandari reaffirmed the commitment of the government to ensure each citizen their fundamental rights to free basic health services.

Presenting the government’s policies and programmes for the coming fiscal year 2016/017 before the Legislature-Parliament Sunday, President Bhandari shared that the government would emphasize distribution of medicines, maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health and safe motherhood.

The government would forward the National Health Insurance plan. Furthermore, services related to intensive emergency maternity and neonatal will be expanded throughout the country.

A One Window system will be launched on experimental basis to provide Ayurved and other complementary medical services with modern medical services. To increase the credibility of Ayurved medicines, an appropriate production process will be adopted in Singha Durbar Baidyakhana.

Moreover, the policies and programmes have stated that the monitoring of pharmacies and control of quality and price of medicine would be made effective together with improvement of physical conditions of hospitals and enhancement of their resources.

Women health volunteers to get more allowance

Also, in recognition to the social contribution of women health volunteers, the government will increase their incentive allowance.

To bring women, children and senior citizens within the scope of social security, the government is to implement the Social Security programmes for them, said the President.

It is also unveiled that the family member of a fully incapacitated individual or persons with disabilities would be provided care-related and employment oriented training. RSS
