Agreement with UML just to withdraw letter sent to Local Development Officers: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, April 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government has reached to an agreement with the main opposition, the CPN (UML) just to take back the letter sent to the Local Development officers (LDOs) in some of the districts in Tarai Madhes through the Ministry of Federal Affairs to revise the number of local-level.

During his meeting with the presidium of newly formed Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Nepal here today, the Prime Minister said the decision to revise the number of local levels in Tarai Madhes districts was not withdrawn. “There is an agreement with the main opposition just to take back the letter dispatched to the local-level in this regard.”

The presidium reached the Baluwataar to meet the Prime Minister.

It is noted that an agreement reached between the government and the major opposition on Wednesday on halting the process of revising the number of local levels in 11 districts for the time being had paved the way for House resuming its business same day.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, presidium member Rajendra Mahato said during the Baluwatar meeting, the party requested the Prime Minister to inform it about the government- main opposition’s latest agreement.

Our demand for revising the number of rural municipalities and municipalities in Tarai Madhes districts remained unchanged, he added. He said on the occasion, they were told by the Prime Minister that there was an agreement between the government and the main opposition just to retrieve the letter sent to the LDOs in some Tarai Madhes districts for revising the number of local levels.

The party took the opportunity to call on the Prime Minister to coordinate with the Election Commission to address the party demand for recognizing ‘umbrella’ as the party election symbol, he added. Besides, the party briefed the Prime Minister about its formation through the unification among six different political parties.

Constitution amendment bill positive: RJP Nepal
The party has said that it will support to pass the constitution amendment bill registered in the parliament, terming the document ‘positive’.
According to party leader Mahato, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to meet with political parties representing in the parliament at 3:00 pm, Friday to discuss the issue relating to the endorsement of bill.

Also present in the meeting were RJP presidium members Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Mahendra Ray Yadav and Anil Jha among others. RSS
