LAMJUNG, July 22: With the rise of water level in the Marsyangdi River, alertness has been maintained on the embankment area and the vicinity.

The local administration urged everyone in the settlements near the river in Manang and Lamjung districts on Saturday evening.

The glacial lakes in the upper region are taken as reason behind high risk. Similarly, another argument is that the heavy rainfall in different parts of Manang and the melted snow has caused the rise in water level in the river.

Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Panta said, “The water level has increased sharply for some days in the Marsyangdi River. So, the concerned settlements were informed to remain alert.”

The rising water level has breached the embankment of Tatopani Kunda of Manang district headquarters.

The settlements as Chame, Dharapani and Tal of Manang and Shreechaur, Syage, Bhulbhule, Khudi of Lamjung are regarded as high risk area.

So, both district administrations have urged the locals to remain alert of possible risk. RSS
