KATHMANDU, March 17: Sadbhawana Party Co-Chairman Laxman Lal Karna  said that constitution amendment was necessary to garner acceptance in constitution and meaningfulness in election.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal today, he said, “The government is telling us that election cannot be stopped. May be election will take place on May 14. But we stand firm on our stance. We will not co-operate the election if done without amending the bill first.”

He argued that the government should reschedule the upcoming election and address the Madhes grievances first as it was not only Madhesi people’s but Nepali people’s demand.

“Madhes is not separate from Nepal. Madhesi people are also Nepali people. What kind of election will it be if people don’t participate in it,” he said.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction over government’s move to bring Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa into the ruling coalition saying it was ironical and sad.

He said, “What does this government want? RPP who does not accept federalism has been brought to the government and the handed the responsibility of Ministry of Federal Affairs.”
