Counting completes in 161 local levels

KATHMANDU, May 19: The Election Commission has stated that the vote count has completed in 161 local levels and 5,960 representatives were elected so far under the first phase local election held on May 14.

According to EC sources, this information is as of 10:30 am today.

The election was held for 283 local levels in 34 districts of Province No 3, 4 and 6.

As per the election result, 161 mayors, deputy mayors, chiefs and deputy chiefs of Municipalities and Rural Municipalities, 1,322 ward chairs, 2,192 ward members, 1,095 women members and 1030 dalit women members were elected from these local levels, said EC spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.

Similarly, Sharma further informed that the election is taking place today at Humla Secondary School voting centre of Kharpunath Rural Municipality. The election was postponed there due to demise of a candidate. RSS
