Country languishing in crises, Nepal’s Prez cautions politicians

KATHMANDU: Nine months after the CA dissolution, Nepal’s president Ram Baran Yadav has said CA dissolution sans promulgating the new constitution was unfortunate.

The country is languishing in political and constitutional crises due to loggerheads among the major political parties and lack of new constitution, President Yadav said at a workshop seminar organized by the Nepal Bar Association and Law Asia today in the capital.

The results would be untoward if the parties lack seriousness to end the present political stalemate as many challenges have been added to institutionalization of democracy, the President cautioned the politicians.

Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi, who has been charged of giving a controversial verdict from the Supreme Court ultimately leading to CA dissolution, said democracy would be institutionalized if rule of law was maintained.

Over 200 representatives from Nepal, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India and other countries are participating the two-day workshop.
