Country may plunge into crisis if local body polls fail to take place in time’

Kathmandu, Aug 29: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel today said that the government should hold local body elections within the stipulated timeframe set by the previous KP Sharma Oli-led government.

Speaking at a concluding training session for office bearers of UML youth-wing Youth Association Nepal (YAN) and UML central members in the Capital, Pokharel warned that the country may face constitutional crisis if the three sets elections—local, provincial and federal—fail to organise within one and a half years.

He stressed the need for the people to remain alert as the Oli-led government was toppled with the support of national and international forces to weaken Nepal’s independence.

Speaking at the event, YAN office bearers like YAN Chairman Rajib Pahari, Vice Chairman Dilu Panta and Spokesperson among others pitched for adopting Marxist teachings for building society, stressing the need to get youth matured and refined.

The session that started from August 23 at the Tulsi Lal Memorial Foundation shed light on people’s multiparty democracy, Marxism and skills, arts and culture. RSS
