KATHMANDU, March 19: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit Monday said that the defiant civil servants will be sacked if they fail to report to their work stations within the given deadline.

“The civil servants must go to their deputations in provinces and local units, and begin their work. If they refuse to report to their work stations, there is only one way….”said Minster Pandit while speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

“If they still refuse to report to their newly-signed duty stations ignoring the direction from government, they will be warned…then, they will be sacked,” added Pandit.

“There is no need to knock the door of any political leaders for transfers. We will not listen to any one. We will punish such defiant civil servants regardless of any political recommendations,” he warned.

Minister Pandit also warned the staffers, who have already been transferred, not to sign the attendance at their current work offices.

He further added that the government will not allow any government officers to take voluntary retirement unless they are physically or mentally unfit.

“We have received 9,700 applications so far. But we are not giving voluntary retirement to anyone, who is unwilling to report to their stations at local levels,” he said.

“Only if they are proved to be physically or mentally unfit, we will give them voluntary retirement.”

“Every government staffers must work sincerely and full time during the duty hour. Lazy and disobedient civil servants will not be spared,” added Pandit.

“It is a serious time, and we are at a circumstance to move the development at a flying pace,” he added.
