 Dr. KC ready to come to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, July 19: Dr Govinda KC has agreed to come to Kathmandu after police used force against his supporters, who were staging the protest against the government’s decision of forcefully bringing Dr KC back to Kathmandu for his medical treatment.

“I cannot see students being injured by police, I am ready to go Kathmandu,” said Dr KC.
Dozens of students and nurses have been injured in the clash with security personnel at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences.

Dr KC has been staging a hunger strike for the past 20 days at the academy seeking reforms in the country’s medical education sector including conducting MBBS classes at the academy.

Following the decision of cabinet meeting on Wednesday night, the government had sent a Nepal Army helicopter to Jumla to bring Dr KC and Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi and Law Minister Naresh Bhandari had reached KAHS to facilitate the process.

Hundreds of police officials have been deployed at the hospital premises in fear of clashes.
In morning, Dr Govind KC has accused the government of trying to kidnap him instead of fulfilling the demands for which he has been on hunger strike.
