KATHMANDU, March 13: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav cleared that the Election Commission (EC) was in the final stage of election preparation.

Stating that the EC was accelerating the technical works related to election at a great speed, he said, “the EC is reviewing voting centers, managing ballot papers and is in the final stages of publishing voters’ list.”

“We have also instructed the government to mobilize the officers and staffs in the respective local units before March 16,” he added speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala today.

He furthered, “We have also received all the election materials and the laws related to election.”

Dr Yadav stressed the need to create election friendly environment across the country since the EC was doing its preparation to hold all three-tier election at a great rate, and for which all the political parties had to play positive role from their side.

He said, “Election of all 744 local bodies has to be done in a single day. It is, therefore, government’s duty to hold election across the country including Terai by forging consensus with Madhes-based parties.”

He requested all the people to celebrate the election environment as election was taking place after a 20-year gap and he expressed his belief that Madesh-based parties would participate in election.”
