Flood debris blocks Arun-Barun confluence, forms lake risking human settlement

KATHMANDU, April 21: A flood in the Barun river has blocked the Arun river at their confluence in Syakshila Gola of Bhot Khola rural municipality in Sankhuwasabha distict.

The flood debris that flowed along the Barun flood has formed a two-kilometer wide lake risking the human settlement in Barun market.

About 54 families in the districts have been affected by the blocked confluence, which started on Thursday around 4 pm, according to Chief District Officer, Gautam KC.
The police reached the site on Friday morning. The Government has directed the authorities to open the blockage as soon as possible and ensure the safety of nearby human settlements.
