GGMC chair Rai accuses other panels of intrusion

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the Good Governance and Monitoring Committee (GGMC) of the Parliament, Sherdhan Rai, accused other Parliamentary committees of intruding into its jurisdiction by summoning the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

“If chiefs of constitutional bodies are summoned too often, it may affect activities of the bodies,” Rai said at the program presided by the Club’s president Rishi Dhamala.

The House committees are inviting CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki to make themselves ‘heroes’, he added. Rai has also urged Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang to call a meeting of chairpersons of all House committees to clear the confusions over the committees jurisdiction.

The lawmaker also suggested parliamentary panels to prioritise the agendas and call representatives of constitutional bodies accordingly. Rai’s GGMC has invited Karki at its meeting on Friday.
