Government decides to form medical commission
Kathmandu, Jan 22: The government has finally decided to form a medical commission to introduce the much-needed reforms in the medical sector.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday took this decision in a bid to guarantee quality in medical education profession, accountability of the medical institutions and social justice, shared Government’s Spokesperson Sherdhan Rai.
The commission will have the Education Minister as Chairman while Executive Vice-Chairman is Professor Dr Bhagawan Koirala. The ex-officio members to the commission will have secretary or joint secretaries from the ministries of health, and education, Chairpersons of Nepal Medical Council and of Nepal Nursing Council; and Professor Dr Sirjana Shgrestha. The expert members are Professor Dr Gagdish Prasad Agrawal, Dr Arjun Karki, Professor Dr Shree Krishna Giri and Dr Suresh Karaudiya.
Similarly, the government promoted joint secretaries Laxmi Prasad Dhakal, Shankar Koirala, Sashi Shekhar Shrestha and Mukundraj Prakash Ghimire to the post of Secretaries. With the promotion, they have been transferred as central regional administrator, western regional administrator, Midwestern regional administrator and acting far western regional administrator respectively.
Some have been transferred- Secretary Shreedhar Sapkota from OPMCM to Public Service Commission, while Chandra Kumar Ghimire will at OPMCM.
Similarly, Joint Secretary Yek Narayan Aryal has been transferred from Home Ministry to Ministry of Information and Communications, Som Prasad Subedi from President’s Office to Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Narayan Prasad Timalsina from Health Ministry to Population Ministry, Kali Prasad Rijal from Home Ministry to Ministry of General Administration and Rajendra Kumar Poudel from Ministry General Administration to Finance Ministry.
The Spokesperson further shared that the vacant posts of members at Lumbini Development Trust will be fulfilled with the Secretary each from Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation; Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development; Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Ministry of Land Reform and Management.
Similarly, 12 May 2012 has been formalized as the date of establishment of Nepal’s diplomatic ties with Monaco. Ambassador to France, Ambika Luitel, is given additional responsibility of non-residential ambassador to Monaco.
Justice at Patan Appellate Court, Dil Prasad Shrestha, has been assigned as Military special court chairman.
Importantly, the officials working in government or public agency are banned to enjoy double benefits. The decision came in the wake of the media reports that some retired government officials were taking regular government facilities.
