Govt preparing to recall nine ambassadors after Oli’s China visit

KATHMANDU, June 13: The government is making preparations to recall nine ambassadors appointed by the previous Nepali Congress-Maoist Center government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba following Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s state visit to China, according to high placed sources. PM Oli is scheduled to embark on his five-day state visit to China on June 19.

It has been understood that the proposal to recall the ambassadors was put in the cabinet by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gywali.

The government is preparing to recall NC recommended ambassadors Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh (South Korea), Dr Bishwomver Pyakurel (Sri Lanka), Dr Choplal Bhusal (Bangladesh), Ramesh Prasad Koirala (Qatar), Bhim Krishna Udas (Myanmar); Rastriya Prajatantra Party recommended ambassadors Prativha Rana (Japan), Niranjan Thapa (Israel) and Bharat Bharat Bahadur Rayamajhi (Spain), a ministerial source told Reporters Club.

Likewise, Ambassador to Oman Sarmila Parajuli, who was appointed from Forum Lokantrik, is also being recalled. However, Prime Minister Oli is not willing to recall Parajuli, according to sources.
