ICC WCL Division- 2: Nepal beats Namibia by one wicket

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal defeated Namibia by one wicket in the ongoing ICC World Cricket League Division- 2 held at Windhoek in Namibia on Thursday.

Losing the toss, Namibia batted first, posing a target of 139 runs before Nepal. In response, Nepal secured the target with the loss of 9 wickets at 49.2 overs.

To ensure Nepal’s victory, batsman Gyanendra Malla made 15 runs while captain ParasKhadka 19. It was Sharad Bheswkar to make the highest runs- 29.

Sandeep Lamichanne was declared player of the match for his four wicket giving away 18 balls in 8.2 overs. Sompal Kami also grabbed 3 wicket at the cost of 35 runs in 7 overs. Sharad Vesawkar, skipper Paras Khadka and Basant Regmi also took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, losing the toss and invited to bat first, Namibia made 138 runs in 34.2 overs losing all wickets. Namibia’s Craig Williams top-scored with 41 runs with 8 boundaries off 34 balls, JN Frylinck hit 22 runs including 3 fours off 31 balls while ZE Green contributed 22 runs off 32 balls.

Nepal will play Oman on Friday who lost to Canada by eight wickets in another match of the day.
