KATHMANDU, April 24:
Nepali Congress (NC) central members airing their views in the Central Working Committee meeting have noted the need of ideological and thought-provoking debate within the party.

NC is in the state of confusion and ambiguity on party ideology and policy along with its organization, they said, adding that there have been no ideological and thoughtful discussions within the party since 2048 BS.

In the ninth day of the party meeting underway to review NC defeat in the elections, central members including Pradeep Giri, Balkrishna Khand, Deepak Giri, Kishor Singh Rathor, Gagan Kumar Thapa and Sita Gurung had put their opinions.
On the occasion, central members Gagan Thapa, Chandra Bhandari, Dhanraj Gurung, Pradeep Poudel, Ram Krishna Yadav and Jeewan Pariyar had jointly presented a 50-page-long written document with election review and future course.

The proposal has underlined the need of immediately bringing the party to federal structure for future reforms and establishing leadership able to perform the role of strong government or shadow government at all ward, municipal, provincial, and federal levels.

“The only way out is to go for early general convention by establishing new organizational structure and injecting new policy. We urge the central committee to take concrete decisions to that front. It would take next two years to hold the general convention by going through the existing statute”, reads the proposal.

On the occasion, central member Thapa warned that the meeting, if limited to undue allegations and defense of leadership, would not be able to find a required destination.

The NC-led government had successfully completed three-tier of elections which also marked the implementation of the Constitution, Thapa said, adding that it was the victory of NC ideology and thought.

“We had gained political victory but have been losing political, social and economic battles during the period”, he noted.

Likewise, central member Giri stressed the need of implementing the recommendations received in the central committee meeting for further reforms.

Similarly, another central member Gurung said that the party saw a humiliating loss in the elections due to alliance of two big communist parties, intra-party feud and betrayal, inadequate election preparation, no federal structure of the party and weak organizational base.

Next meeting will take place at 9.00 am on Wednesday, informed NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel. RSS
