Impeachment motion against CIAA Chief readied



Kathmandu, Oct 19: Finally, an impeachment motion against Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki, is to be registered.

As many as 157 lawmakers from the CPN (Maoist-Centre) and CPN-UML signed the motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Karki and submitted it to the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat, said Chief Whip of CPN-UML, Bhanubhakta Dhakal to the National News Agency (RSS).

Chief Whip Dhakal further said the motion was forwarded with the required number–one-fourth of lawmakers as per the constitutional provision. Signatures from other lawmakers would be sought.

Although the motion was said to be forwarded with the signatures of the lawmakers from ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) and major opposition CPN-UML, Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Centre), Tek Bahadur Basnet, told RSS that he was not aware of this development.

He, however, informed that the legislature-parliament had formed a committee on recommendation of impeachment on Wednesday, and the recommendation committee would meet next on Thursday.

Meanwhile, CIAA Chief Karki returned home this evening. RSS
