Increment in number of local polls an added responsibility to the EC, says CEC Yadav

BIRATNAGAR, May 23: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said that the government’s decision to increase the number of local units has added more responsibility to the Election Commission.

Speaking during a press conference in Biratnagar on Tuesday, Yadav said,” The government’s decision to increase the number of local units has added more responsibility to the EC and created technical and managerial problems related to voters’ list, identity and other logistics management.”

“But the EC will solve all the problems within a week after holding a needful discussion,” added.

Yadav however said that despite the government’s decision of increase the number of local units in Terai region, the date of second phase local polls which is scheduled on June 14 will not be deferred.
