NEW DELHI, June 10: Indian Home Minister Raj Nath Singh Bharat has said that India has never meddled in the internal affairs of Nepalese politics and will never interfere in the coming days too.
Minister Sigh, while talking to senior journalist and Reporters’ Club Nepal President Rishi Dhamala, at the former’s governmental residence in New Delhi on Saturday, he said that India has always wanted peaceful, stable and prosperous Nepal. He added that Indian government’s only wish towards Nepal was the implementation of constitution through timely conduction of three tiers election and economic progress.
Singh further added that the issues of constitution amendment and implementation were entirely Nepal’s internal matters. “It is on to Nepali people and their political leader to decide why the constitution should be amended and how to implement it. What is Nepal’s interest is India’s interest: peace, development and prosperity.”
When asked how participation of all the political parties in the election could be ensured, he said, “It’s not our concern. Election is the most beautiful part of the democracy, through which democracy can be institutionalized.”
Stating that the bilateral relation between Nepal and India was age old and positive and strong, he stressed on further strengthening of the diplomatic ties between two countries by boosting economic cooperation and connectivity links.
Singh further said that India is ready to provide any kind of support to Nepal and added, “We are ready to help Nepal in election matters. But, Nepal should ask for it first.”
He also congratulated newly elected Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba and wished him a successful tenure. “We hope, Indo-Nepal relation will get even more positive in Deuba’s term,” he added.
