Lahan mayoral candidates say: We will resign within six months if fail to work as promised

LAHAN, Sept 12: Mayoral candidates of Lahan municipality, Siraha have expressed their commitments to work for the development of municipality if elected as mayor.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal in Lahan, the candidates contesting for the city’s top job publicly announced that they would resign from the post within six months if they failed to fulfill their promises made to the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Nepali Congress candidate Achamit Lal Chaudhary said that he would focus on the infrastructure development of the city. He also pledged to manage the unmanaged settlements of the city. He further added, “If I fail to work as I promised I will resign from the post within six months.”

Federal Socialist Forum Nepal candidate Baijanath Shah said that he would make every efforts to transform Lahan into one of the most prosperous cities of the country. He also expressed his worries over the political parties for not working in the interest of Madhes and its people like FSF Nepal.

He also thanked journalist Rishi Dhamala for coming to Madhes and organizing such campaigns on the eve of the election. He added, “Dhamala has added more excitement and enthusiasm to Madhesi people by coming here.”

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal candidate Dr Mahadev Shah also expressed his commitments to work for Lahan and its dwellers.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Lagan Chaudhary vowed to lead the city into the path of prosperity.

The former mayor and lawmaker added, “I know the city and residents here. The city has many problems. I promise to solve them if I am elected as mayor.”

Nepali Workers and Peasants Party candidate Bijay Mahato said that he had already prepared a draft of planning for the development of Lahan. He also clarified that his party was not against the constitution amendment.

CPN-UML candidates were not present in the program.
