National development possible with unity of all: Ex Prez Yadav

KATHMANDU, May 17:  Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that the national development was possible with the unity of all.

Speaking in a programme organized by Society for Democratic Thinking here in the capital today to felicitate the democracy fighters, former head of the State, said that all should be united to safeguard the achievements of the past.

Yadav, the former Nepali Congress leader said that the NC was weakening due to the activities of some leaders adding that the electoral candidacy tickets were sold in profit which caused loss in the elections.

He also urged the intellectual of the NC to reform the party as it was possible by themselves only.

Similarly, political analyst, Nilambar Acharya said that the communist won the election due to the weaknesses of NC. He also urged the NC lawmakers to raise the voices of the people in the parliament.

Political thinker Dr Krishna Khanal opined for NC’s reformations as per the expectation of the party cadres.

Political thinker Dr Devendra Pandey said that there was no alternative to involve in building party organization to make party stronger, saying Nepal’s democratic movement will be weak if the Nepali Congress become weak.

He said the NC had to face defeat in elections as it failed to take its policy and program among the people.

On the occasion, Purishottam Basnet was honoured with democratic leader award. The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000, letter of felicitation and a shawl.

The honoured personality, Basnet said that all democratic should be together to save the democracy.

Similarly, former President of Society, Homnath Dahal, Senior-President of Society, Kul Chandra Wagle, Vice-President Dr Bimala Shakya, and President of Democratic Lecturers’ Association, Jagat Timalsina, said that the Society has been carrying out activities to strengthen democracy by organizing various programs.

Society President Kedar Narsingh KC said that the Society, established on Jeth 3, 2052, under the chairmanship of Basudev Chandra Malla, has been playing significant role in development of Parliamentary System based on pluralism and its strengthen. RSS
