NC President Deuba attends high-level meetings in Delhi

Kathmandu, Nov 8: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is presently on India visit, held high-level meetings with Indian leaders.

President Deuba paid a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s office at 10:40 this morning, according to NC Central Office sources.

On the occasion, the two leaders held discussion on the damages caused by April 2015 earthquake and the post-earthquake reconstruction in Nepal.

Indian Prime Minister Modi told Deuba that the mobilization of ex-Gorkha Army in the reconstruction works would help accomplish the post-quake construction timely as they are quite diligent and disciplined.

Also the matter discussed in the meeting was amendment to the constitution along with mutual relations between Nepal and India, informed NC Central Office Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

In the meeting Deuba noted that the discussion has been already initiated to have consultations with Madhes-centric parties and other parties represented in the parliament on the agenda of constitution amendment for the implementation of the constitution and expressed his confidence that the amended constitution would be acceptable for all.

The Indian Prime Minister had also expressed his hope that Nepal would be able to attain sustainable peace, trust and prosperity provided all Nepali are united.

On Monday evening, President Deuba held a meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at the latter’s residence.

The NC President is scheduled to visit senior leader of Congress I Karan Singh this evening.

Leader Deuba flew to New Delhi on November 4 to address a programme organized by India Foundation in Goa. He is returning home tomorrow afternoon. RSS
