Nepal defeats Singapore to top group A



ACC U-19 Eastern Regional Tournament

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Nepal defeated Singapore by seven wickets in the final game of the group stage under the ACC U-19 Eastern Regional Tournament 2017 underway in Malaysia. Nepal defeated Thailand by 255 runs in the first group match and defeated Bhutan by nine wickets in the second match. With the win, Nepal has topped its group A. 

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Singapore posted a meagre total of 67 runs after losing all wickets in 28.3 overs. Pawan Sarraf of Nepal took 6 wickets in 8 overs to dismantle the opposition. He gave away only 12 runs with four maidens in his spell. Kishore Mahat took two wickets while Sandip Lamichhane and captain Dipendra Singh Aiyer took one each.

In reply, Nepal surpassed the total set by Singapore in just 13.4 overs at the loss of three wickets. Sandip Sunar top-scored with 20 runs followed by Anil Kumar Shah (18) and Amit Maharjan (10). They will face the runners up of the Group B in semi-finals on Saturday.
