No need to submit the bank statement and other documents for US visa application



Kathmandu, May 17: The US Embassy in Kathmandu said it will begin reduced-document processing for tourist and student visa applicants from June 1.

Applicants for tourist and student visas will have to take a few required documents only for their visa interview.

“In order to protect applicants from potential scams as well as save them money and time, applicants no longer need to bring bank statements, land titles, letters of invitation, or any similar documents,” the Embassy said today.

The applicants will have to include passport, prior passports, DS-160 confirmation page,  application fee payment receipt, photographs and I-20 as well as transcripts (for student visa) in their documents the visa interview.

In recent months, the US Embassy Kathmandu has received complaints from applicants who paid consultancies to organise or obtain documents for their interview, only to discover that consular officers do not need these documents, the statement said.

Saying it has has also received reports of consultancies using the promise of a visa to obtain documents, it warned the service seekers against potential theft of their identity.
