Nomadic Raute get identity card

SURKHET, July 15: The Raute, one of the last nomadic communities in the country, have been officially recognized by the State.

Members of the community living in the Patale river banks in Gurans rural municipality-8 of Dailekh district, received permanent identity card for the first time. With this, they will be entitled to social security allowance from the state, according to Chairperson of the rural municipality Khem Raj Oli.

The rural municipality has also appointed two staffers in order to study, research and support the Raute community. Rautes living in Dailekh, Salyan, Dang, Achham, Surkhet are entitled to receive their social security allowance from Gurans rural municipality, Oli said. RSS
