PM Oli to visit China within a month

KATHMANDU, May 20: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli said that he is planning to visit China within a month.

He made the revelation on Saturday while addressing the first parliamentary party meeting, after he was unanimously elected as the parliamentary party leader of the newly formed party Nepal Communist party (NCP). The two largest communist parties CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) announced their merger last week to form the NCP.

“I am planning to visit China within a month,” said the Prime Minister and Chair of NCP.

The bilateral relations with India and China are improving constantly relying on the base of balanced diplomacy and national sovereignty,” he added.

Prime Minister Oli also said that he will initiate to activate the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and other regional and international organizations.

Oli, who assumed office in February 15 this year, has already visited India. Also, a month after Oli’s India trip, his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi also came to Nepal on a two-day state visit.

Moreover, China has already welcomed the unification between the two largest communist parties of Nepal.
