Panchpokhari Trail Race-2017 on 7 Aug

KATHMANDU, July 31: A 24-kilometres Trail Race at high altitude starting from Panchpokhari to Thangpal Raithane in Sindhupalchowk district is going to be organized on 7th August.

Bishwa Samabeshi Sanstha and Dukhang Panchpokhari Manam Youth Club are jointly organizing the event where the participants will run by the Simsar Kunda, 9th highest wetland pond in the world.

Nepal tourism Board is the promotional partner of the event.

Pachpokhari, which lies at the base of Jugal Himal and is situated at the altitude of 4,060 metres above the sea level, is a pilgrimage site comprising five religiously important lakes as Surya Kunda, Bhairav Kunda, Ganesh Kunda, Naag Kunda and Saraswati Kunda.

The race is aimed at promoting Panchpokhari of Panch Pokhari Thangpal rural municipality in the district as a tourist spot, according to Bishwa Samabeshi Sanstha President and Everest summiteer, Maya Sherpa.

Anyone interested and is in good health could take part in the race which carries a purse of Rs 25,000 for the first winner, Rs 20,000 for the second, Rs 15,000 for the third and RS 5,000 for the one securing consolation prize.

Organizers are expecting more than 100 competitors in the race. RSS
