PM thanks all for peaceful polls in Province No. 2

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended thanks to all for peaceful elections in the Province-2 held on Monday.

Issuing a press statement today, Deuba has extended thanks to all for their support to make the polls–the greatest celebrations of democracy–peaceful, and encouraging.

With the third phase of polls, the local level of elections as envisioned by the Constitution of Nepal has been conduced across the country. The first and second phases of polls were held on May 14 and June 28.

The PM has also stated that the elections in all eight districts of Province-2 were held in an enthusiastic manner.

“For the first time, the Constitution has given the sovereign power to the citizens. Basically, citizens use their sovereign rights through the elections in a democracy,” he said.

Expressing the government’s commitment to hold the parliamentary and provincial elections on November 26 and December 7 in a free, fair and fearless manner, the PM has expressed the confidence that the country would enter in to the new era of political stability and economic prosperity after the completion of all three levels of polls.
