Kailali

KATHMANDU, March 11: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has directed the District Administration Office in Kailali to immediately investigate into the incident that took place at Ghodaghodi Municipality-5 of the district and take action against those found guilty in it.

Radha Chaudhary, 18, was physically assaulted by ‘Baba’ Ram Bahadur Chaudhary and Kismati Chaudhary for hours on charge of practicing witchcraft on March 8.

Stating that anyone involved in such heinous crime cannot go scot free, the Office has said that the Government will bear all the cost of treatment of Chaudhary.

“This incident that took place as the world was celebrating International Women’s Day makes it clear that the roots of superstition and harmful practices are spread up to the grassroots level. This incident is certainly an insult to human consciousness and civilization, and has tarnished the image of the country as a whole. Hence, the activities trying to misuse illiteracy, superstition and backwardness among the people should be strictly contained so as to avoid such criminal acts in future,” reads a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press aide Ram Sharan Bajgain.
