Pokhara International Airport construction sees no progress

POKHARA, March 23: The construction of Pokhara International Airport has not taken any stride.

The foundation stone of the airport was jointly laid by then Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and incumbent PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Deputy Prime Minister and RPP Chair Kamal Thapa, Forum Democratic Chair Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Nepali Congress general secretary Dr Shashank Koirala on April 2016 with fanfare.

Senior Engineer at Pokhara International Airport Project Chandra Mani Sapkota shared that the only tasks carried out in a year is the construction flood preventive canal and road reaching to the airport.

He however expressed his confidence that the new works of airport construction would take momentum within some days.

It may be noted that the Chinese Company – CMCE – had won the contract to complete the airport construction works by July 2020. The Chinese Axim Bank had provided a loan of around Rs 21 billion for the purpose. RSS
