Politicians’ politicking: Madhav Nepal and other politicians in philanthropy



RAUTAHAT: CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, former Inspector General of Nepal Police Pradip Shumsher JBR and UCPN (Maoist) leader Prabhu Sah have provided separate assistance package to fire victims in Rautahat district. All three figures hail from the same district.

Similarly, they are considered possible candidates in the upcoming CA polls from the district. JBR is a leader of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, a fringe party of former pro-royalists.

Leader Nepal handed over 65 sets of blankets and 10 quintals rice to the fire victims as immediate relief.

Similarly, JBR provided foodstuffs and clothes while Sah also distributed foodstuffs to the fire victims.

Property worth Rs 75 million was gutted in the fire on Saturday while over 1,000 people were rendered homeless, said Acting Chief District Officer of Rautahat, Basanta Neupane.

Police Inspector Bheshraj Rijal said 57 houses and some cowsheds were gutted at Ward No. 3 and 4 in Raghunathpur VDC while 25 houses were burnt to ashes at Ward No. 9 in Basbiti Jigdiya VDC.
