KATHMANDU: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that he would take any step ahead only as per a political consensus.

At a meeting with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas today, the President urged Chairman Dahal to work towards giving a political outlet to the nation.

Talking to media persons following the talks, Maoist Chairman Prachanda said the talks with the President was held in a very open manner, and added that the President has assured him of not taking any unconstitutional step.

Stating that his party has an important role in resolving the political crisis as the largest political party in the constituent assembly, Mr Dahal said he and his party were actively working towards that end.

Chairman Dahal also shared that the President made it clear during the meeting that he was ready to institutionalize federalism, republic, secularism and other changes established by the people’s war and people’s movement.

“I emphasized that the budget would come on the basis of consensus among the parties and that the President should accept it”, Dahal said and added that the President was not against the budget.

The President is concerned towards immediately resolving the present political situation, and that is obvious, he added.
