KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said the Press is the foundation of democracy and good governance.

In a meet with the delegates of the Press Council from India, Bangladesh and Cyprus at his official residence in Baluwatar today, he said. “Nepal is in the final stage of political transition. The press has a greater role in establishing peace and constitution writing. If it was not press acting positively, the peace and constitutional process would not have been finalized. We have written new constitution, press freedom has been ensured. The press is the foundation of democracy and good governance.”

He added, “In the 21st century of information and technology, the press media has made huge contribution to bring high awareness and immense changes around the globe- which is laudable.”
