DARCHULA, July 11: A school was forced to postpone the exam scheduled for today after a bridge over the Naugadh River at Naugadh Rural Municipality-6 was swept away by the flood triggered by torrential rains.

The wooden bridge was swept away in the flooding leaving students of local Janahit Secondary School with no options other than cross the swollen river that risks their lives to reach the school, said school assistant principal Prem Singh Thagunna.

Water-level in the river increased all of a sudden, washing away the bridge, said local Bahadur Singh Thagunna who witnessed the incident.
Presently, the first-terminal examinations are underway at the school which decided to postpone the today’s paper bearing in mind the adverse situation. It seemed no possibility for 150 students to attend the today’s paper due to flooding, the school said.
The flooded river also continues damaging maize crops and eroding the soil.
Meanwhile, a landslide hit the Dethala-Dhuligadha road section at its multiple points. Due to this, traffic services along the route have come to a total halt.

Darchula, the district in the province 7, has been witnessing sunny days and heavy rains at night since the past a couple of days. RSS
