Sandeep Lamichhane to play in Caribbean Premier League

KATHMANDU, March 1: Sandeep Lamichhane’s remarkable globe-trotting cricket career continued Thursday when he became the first Nepal player to be selected for the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

The 17-year-old signed up by the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots during the CPL auction in London for a fee of $5,000 on Thursday.

“Welcome on board  . You’re officially a !  Glad to have you! …,” tweeted SKN Partiots.

The teenage leg-spinner had already made history when he became the first Nepal player in the Indian Premier League, the original and still the wealthiest of the growing number of T20 franchise tournaments. He was picked by Delhi Daredevils team for the base price of INR 20 lakh.

“Excited to be announced as the player of @sknpatriots for this season of @CPL ! Thanks to @sknpatriots team for showing your faith in me ! And thanks to all the fans and well wishers for your love and support,” wrote Sandeep.
