Storm and rainfall damage property worth tens of thousands in Rautahat



Rautahat, May 25: Heavy storm and rainfall this morning has damaged property worth tens of thousands of rupees in Rautahat district.

According to the preliminary report, the storm and rainfall, occurred for an hour from 9:30 am, has caused a huge damage to property at different parts of the district.

The transport service was halted in a jungle west from Chandrapur Municipality along the east-west highway after a tree was uprooted and fell on the road during the storm. A team from the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, opened the highway after removing the tree.

Similarly, vehicular movement has been obstructed after a tree fell on the road along Bagmati section of the east-west highway, according to the District Traffic Police Office, Rautahat.

The storm and rainfall has also damaged different crops including mango, litchi and maize as well as blown away house roofs of most of the locals.

Teaching learning activities have been disrupted at many schools after the storm blew away roofs of schools at different places.

Details of the loss caused by storm and rainfall are yet to be received, according to the District Police Office, Rautahat. RSS
