Tanker that plunged into Trishuli river found, driver dead



CHITWAN, Jan 18: A tanker that had overshot the road and plunged into the Trishuli river at Kalikhola, Chandibhanjyang on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section last night has been located at 11 am today.

The tanker driver has been found dead on the driver’s seat inside the tanker.

The tanker (Na 4 Kha4143) heading towards Bara from Kathmandu had fallen into the Trishuli river at around midnight on Tuesday.

Police have identified the driver as 26-year-old Umesh Tamang of Amlekhganj, Bara district.

The tanker was found in the middle of the river about a kilometre to the west of the accident site.

Tanker helper, Pradip Lama, also from Amlekhganj, Bara, saved his life by swimming. However, he broke his leg in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force personnel had started the search for the tanker soon after it fell into the Trishuli river.
