Teacher‚ SMC chair attacked with khukuri



BAJURA, March 27: Youths yesterday assaulted a teacher of Pashupati Higher Secondary School in Brahmatola and the chairperson of the school management committee.

According to police, Tula Thapa, a teacher of the school and central member of Nepal Rastriya Sikshak Sangathan and the committee’s chairperson Charansingh Bhandari were attacked with a khukuri by a group of six youths while they were dining at Thapa’s residence in Brahmatola-6 at around 10:00pm yesterday night.

Thapa has received deep cuts on his head and arms while Bhandari has sustained injuries on his chest. The duo, whose condition is reported to be critical, is undergoing treatment at Bayalpata Hospital in Achham.According to Inspector Narayan Chandra of District Police Office, four of the youths have been detained.

“We have nabbed Ram Bahadur Rokaya of Dahakot, Bhim Thapa of Kuldevmandau, Chakra Saud of Badimalika and Ramesh Prasad Joshi of Brahmatola so far. The remaining attackers have been identified and we are searching for them,” said Inspector Chandra.

Pashupati Higher Secondary School is one of the centres of the ongoing School Leaving Certificate examinations. The youths involved in the incident were in Brahmatola as guardians of the wards appearing in the SLC exams from the exam centre.
