Three of a family killed in Panchthar storm



PHIDIM, APR 18: Three persons of a same family died in a storm in Prangbung of Panchthar on Saturday.

Three members of the Khapangi family from Prangbung-3 of the district were crushed by a tree branch fallen in the storm in Prangbung-6 this morning, police said.

The deceased were identified as Shree Prasad Khadgi (52), his son Manoj (17) and nephew Anish (19). They were found dead, crushed by the tree branch nearby Indo-Nepal border, local Bil Bahadur Thamsuhang informed.

They were returning home from Sikkim of India, the local added. Chief of the Pancthar District Police Office, DSP Deepak Pokhrel, said the DPO has deployed a police team to look into the case.

However, the team is yet to reach the incident site as it was too far from the nearest police post, he added.

Pokhrel claimed that incessant rainfall has also obstructed the police team from reaching the incident.
